INNOVATION & SUSTAINABILITY
Technology in Ground Engineering
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
At Central Alliance, we are not satisfied with being reliant on standard practice. We strive towards developing new practice, and lead to make sure it happens. Innovation is the answer to the global climate crisis and the global energy crisis, and we need to make our contribution by innovating in the fields that we specialise in, while making operations safer and more efficient.

THE CLIMATE CRISIS
Our innovations support a move towards changing the way that we do things, to the benefit of the environment. Remote sensing, rapid data capture, non-intrusive techniques and in-place monitoring are key to our future by reducing both our and our clients’ carbon footprint. Our focus is also on helping our clients measure and address asset resilience to climate change. Our remote sensing and GIS analysis helps to proactively prioritise and identify assets prone to climate change impact. Through data provision, we can help our clients meet Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) requirements while on the journey to net zero.
SUSTAINABILITY
Our site operations are moving towards more sustainable methods of operation, using battery powered equipment, electric vehicles and alternative fuels. We have a significant CAPEX plant replacement programme to meet changing emissions standards to keep an updated and modern fleet of drilling rigs and plant, and are reducing transport and plant movements.
We have developed a sustainability matrix that enables us to score proposed ground investigation works and compare to actual, enabling comparisons to be made between different specifications and scopes, highlighting the more sustainable options and informing on where we need to make our operations more sustainable.
Our broader, longer term strategy is to revolutionise the way that we operate and incorporate innovative solutions such as muon tomography, remote monitoring and remote sensing.
MUON TOMOGRAPHY
A battery powered non-intrusive technique to map density changes by detecting cosmic ray muons.
GIS ANALYSIS
GIS analysis gives intelligent insights to manage assets. It is done remotely, is desk-based with no travel involved. Geospatial data analysis involves collating, combining and analysing multiple datasets to provide context and insights. It will extract maximum value from data and at the same time, reduce carbon footprint, assessing sites using accessible information and by recognising the true value of expensive data.
REMOTE INSTRUMENTATION MONITORING
Remote monitoring is a valuable tool to improve site safety and reduce carbon emissions for construction projects. At Central Alliance, we strive towards reducing our carbon footprint and are consistently working towards our sustainability targets while simultaneously improving efficiency and quality of data for our clients.
