Central Alliance win Ground Investigation Specialist of the Year
Central Alliance, an RSK company, has won the prestigious Ground Investigation Specialist of the Year award at this year’s Ground Engineering Awards. The annual awards ceremony, which celebrates the very best in geotechnical engineering, offers industry members the chance to come together as a community to recognise their achievements and network with the best in the business.
The Ground Investigation Specialist of the Year Award recognises innovation and excellence in site investigation, surveying and monitoring. Central Alliance was able to demonstrate how its innovative use of new technology has brought a significant step change to capturing site geotechnical information and delivering it to clients.
On the back of its innovation and approach to site investigation, Central Alliance has won ground investigation tenders for Network Rail’s Transpennine Route Upgrade and for improvement work on the A1 Birtley to Coalhouse and Scotswood to North Brunton sections for John Sisk & Son. The company also continues to be chosen as the preferred pre-construction services supplier for Murphy Group, Amey, AMCO, BAM Nuttall and Story Contracting, having won supplier places won on national framework agreements with several large contractors.
Speaking about receiving the award, Richard Pidcock, joint managing director Central Alliance said, “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award. The entire team here has worked hard to bring innovation and new technologies to ground investigation and our efforts are now being rewarded with commercial success. To receive the Ground Investigation Specialist of the Year Award endorses our commitment to constantly evolving and raising the bar ever higher for what can be achieved in the geotechnical sector.”
In the final, Central Alliance went head to head with Structural Soils (an RSK company), which was also shortlisted in the Ground Investigation Specialist of the Year category.
RSK companies were shortlisted seven times: the others being once for UK Project with a Geotechnical Value of between £1M and £3M, twice for Technical Excellence and twice for Ground Investigation Project of the Year. The finalists presented their entries to the panel of esteemed judges at the Ground Engineering office in London, UK, in April. A record number of companies entered the awards this year.
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the prestigious awards ceremony was held on 6 June at the luxurious Hilton on Park Lane in the heart of London’s West End, where more than 800 members of the industry elite came together to hear the winners of the 18 award categories announced.
